As the storyline begins, Peter Parker has been Spider-Man for just one year. He has fought villains, saved lives, but still has much to learn about being a super-hero. Now, Nick Fury gives Peter the chance to go to the next level to train to be a real super-hero and become The The Cleveland Show. But before he can do that, Peter will have to learn how to work with a team of fellow teenage super-heroes. Along the way, he will have to navigate challenging relationships with mentors and super-colleagues, and emerge with a better understanding of his parents' legacy and his own destiny

The show chronicles the life of Cleveland Brown, a hit character of Family Guy. After his divorce from Loretta, he moves from Spooner Street in search of a better life in California. Along the way he gets sidetracked in his hometown of Stoolbend, Virginia, where he runs into his old high school crush, Donna Tubbs. When old feelings arise he asks Donna to marry him and he settles down with his 14 year old Cleveland Junior and her two kids, 5 year old Rallo and 16 year old Roberta. His new life in Stoolbend revolves around his new family and old friends as well as his new friends and neighbors, Holt Richter, the rednecks Lester & Kendra Krinklesack and the family of bears, Tim & Arianna

The Cleveland Show's comedy, though every bit as intelligent, is less manic than that of Family Guy, and leaves more room for its characters, not one of whom is obnoxious, and there is abundant humanity to be seen from each of them.

The small and ridiculously talented vocal cast fits the characters like a glove, especially the immensely lovable and staggeringly versatile Kevin Michael Richardson, who can't seem to find a single part he can't do flawlessly. His Cleveland Junior and Mike Henry's Cleveland Senior are two of the best cartoon characters I've ever seen.

The show's terrible reception is an inexcusable stain on this country's society and points to its confused and insatiable fixation on racism. Appel and his team have made a show that is nearly as funny as Family Guy, and much warmer
